Pros And Cons For Booking A Wedding Magician.

I discussed in a previous article what you should be aware of when hiring a magician for wedding. In writing that article I assumed you had already decided that a magician is what you wanted, the help I gave was in finding the right one.

In this article I will take a step back and discuss WHY you should be booking a magician in the first place, or at least the pros and cons in doing so. Naturally I am moderately biased given that this is my profession, but I still think I can put forward a good case for the conjuring community.

Let's start by noting that throughout your special day you will be the centre of attention, and your mind will not always be on the welfare of your wedding party, especially during the photos which can be known to go on for a couple of hours. This is where a magician can add that extra dimension to your guests wedding experience and give YOU peace of mind knowing that they are in safe hands.

A magician can be extremely versatile, slotting in with ease during any part of the day and not disrupting the flow of the event.

A magician can wow your guests during any of the following times

During the photos

The formal photographs can take up to a couple of hours with most of your guests left to idly chat amongst themselves. There is no better time than a magician to step in and provide an unforgettable experience,; a great ice breaker.

During the wedding breakfast

The wedding breakfast is another popular time for entertainment. A professional magician will not interrupt whilst people eat but will entertain a table at a time between courses. It is always a lovely moment for the wedding couple to hear loud spontaneous cheers from different tables.

Evening reception

A magician can also entertain during the evening reception when all your evening guests have arrived and the party is in full swing. With formalities out the way this is usually a very relaxed part for all and having a magician entertain can provide a very memorable experience for all. A magician can mingle with guests and even perform a small show which will always include the wedding couple.

So, that's the pros in hiring a magician, what about the cons.

Firstly, the cost. Hiring a decent professional close up is not cheap and would usually set you back in the region of five hundred pounds for a couple of hours. If you have the budget, then do it.

Another drawback is that it will take you time to find the right magician. It is so, so important to spend time and effort here because the downside will be you stressed out during the day wondering if your magician is performing and entertaining to the level you expect. You do not need any more stress on your wedding day. To make this less of a chore, see my article "5 things to be aware of when booking a magician for your wedding" to make this process a lot easier.

So, in conclusion, if you have the money and time to find a magician that you know will meet the expectations you have then book one. For years to come your guests will likely talk about "that magician" which will bring a smile to your face.
